It doesn’t look like I ever built a post for this.
And in traditional squirrel fashion I have been sidetracked. I intend to revisit this again as I think it’s a wonderful project. The story is I found an older VM on stored on my older NAS that handles NFS for VMWARE. It was understandably dated. The question then became do I want to redo it. I did. in the end I ended up scrapping the VM and creating a new one. The next question then became did I want to install it natively or did I want to use docker. That question stopped me. (plus the whole GOGs thing was a squirrel action (read distraction) to start)
There are a number of opensource alternatives for hosting a repository like well, github. One of the largest reasons for this being if you need a truly private or off net repository solution.
The default port for hosting is 3000
So you might end up using a URL something like gogs.sparelab.net:3000
Note to self: Please see notes for deploying this a as a docker image which might be the sensible solution.
